Fluorosis is a cosmetic condition which does not affect the health of your teeth. It is caused by consuming too much fluoride while the ‘adult’ teeth are being formed.
This condition is shown by faint white/brown lines or discolouration spots on the enamel of the tooth or the tooth surface. Once the teeth have broken through the gums you cannot develop fluorosis.
Depending on the age of your child, there are a few steps you can do in order to help prevent fluorosis.
The preventative steps highlighted need to be applied to your child’s teeth as an ongoing process until the adult teeth have broken through the gums.
