How does Invisalign Work?
Invisalign works by gradually moving your teeth into the desired position using a series of clear, custom-made aligners. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks and then replaced by the next in the series. As you replace each aligner, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to the final position. You’ll just need to revisit our clinic about once every six weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.
The best part is that the aligners are also removable, so you can eat and drink whatever you like during treatment.
What is the Procedure?
The procedure for Invisalign is simple.
Initially, a full assessment with photographs is required on the first visit. Once the treatment plan has been formalised and accepted, the qualified clinicians at Spires Oral & Dermal Care will add attachments to the teeth and carry out interproximal reduction (IPR). The aligners are then custom made for each patient’s mouth.
Over the next 6 months, up to 26 invisible aligners per arch will be constructed and given to the patient to wear. The patient will need to change the aligners every 1-2 weeks to continue the movement of the teeth.
Generally, the Invisalign treatment takes less than six months to complete.

What is Invisalign Refinement?
Invisalign refinement is a process in which your Invisalign provider makes minor adjustments to your existing Invisalign aligners in order to further improve your smile. This may be done if your provider feels that your smile could be further improved, or if you are not happy with your current results. Invisalign refinement can sometimes be done without having to get new aligners, but in other cases, you may need to get new aligners made.
How long does the Invisalign process take?
The Invisalign process usually takes about six months, but it can vary depending on your individual needs. Please contact us for your consultation to find out more about how long your treatment might take.
